Why I quit tampons and what I’m using instead (game-changer)

Dec 16, 2020 | Menstrual Cycle, PMS

I have a confession – I hate tampons.

They leak, the strings get gross, they have to be changed every couple hours on my heaviest days, they make cramps worse, and they make me feel like I have to pee all the time – especially at night.

I didn’t really enjoy a menstrual cup for similar reasons.

And I like pads even less.

In talking with several of my clients and girlfriends, it seems that they all feel the same way.

As women, it feels like it’s just something that we have to put up with for a few days every month.

I felt that way too until I discovered something called a menstrual disc.

A menstrual disc is a disposable, single-use menstrual product that can be worn safely for up to 12 hours (unlike tampons which max out at 8 hours).

It collects blood right at the base of the cervix in an area called the vaginal fornix, which leaves the vaginal canal free from obstruction.

It literally is life-changing.

Here’s why…

>> As soon as I put it in, I couldn’t feel it. At all.

>> I put it when I woke up and didn’t have to worry about changing it until after dinner.

>> No leaks.

>> No cramps from it.

>> It didn’t move or fall out on me when I worked out.

>> The urge to have to pee that I always get with a tampon disappeared with the disc.

I honestly pretty much forgot that I was even on my period. In fact, I put an alarm reminder on my phone for the 12-hour cut-off because of how comfortable it was.

Game. Changer.

The brand of disc that I use is called FLEX.

Not only do they promote the benefits I experienced, but they also market the following benefits:

>> One disc holds the equivalent of 3 super tampons.

>> 70% of FLEX subscribers notice reduced cramps compared to other menstrual products. This is because it doesn’t sit in the vaginal canal.

>> You can have mess-free period sex.

>> It’s made of 100% medical grade material, hypoallergenic, FDA registered, made without BPA, phthalates or natural latex rubber.

>> They produced 60% less waste than traditional products.

>> They say that 97% of users cannot feel it when wearing it.

>> Users can say goodby to irritation, odor, and dryness during their periods.

I will say that when I first got it, I thought it was huge and was a bit intimidated by it. But the company sent an instructional pamphlet and video. They also suggest trying one before your period comes so you can get the hang of it.

All of that helped a ton.

If you’re pretty much OVER tampons like I was – then I recommend giving it a shot. The company offers a 10% discount on your first order when you sign up on their website and give free shipping in the United States.

And honestly – what do you have to lose giving it a shot for one month? If it’s not for you, go back to what was comfortable! Everyone has different preferences – but sometimes we don’t know what we’re missing out on until we give it a try!

For me – I don’t think I’ll ever go back unless I’m in a pinch.

Here’s a link to their site to check it out.

If you try one – email me and let me know what your thoughts are!
